How does this site work?
We are trying to remove the process of having to scan through and apply to dozens or hundreds of jobs. Instead, you build a skill profile with years of experience for each skill. And that's it! You can update or change your skill list at any time and the rest of the interview process remains unchanged. This allows job seekers to spend less time looking.
Do I have to pay?
No and you will never have to. Some users have expressed interest in paying for a premium subscription but there will always be a free way to use JobHelper.
What if I no longer want to receive emails about job matches?
After logging in and going to the Edit page ("/success/" in your address bar), at the very top of the form is a field with the label "Active". All you have to do is uncheck that box and you will not receive any job related emails from us until you decide to reactivate it.
Is there a way to upload my resume?
No -- we're trying to save prospective job seekers as much time in the application process as possible. One way we're achieving this is ditching the resume and cover letter model for matching up with available jobs. You may be asked to submit a resume or cover letter after an employer has expressed interest in your skill-set, but you won't have to waste time tailoring dozens of resumes and cover letters to positions that may not even extend an initial interview.
Why can't I choose my own password?
At JobHelper, data security is a huge priority for us. We not only choose a very strong, randomized password for you, but we also encrypt them in our database. This means that even our database administrators do not know your password. Since most people re-use the same password or choose ones that are very similiar, we do not want to allow a data breach elsewhere to impact the security of your information here.
Can I change the skills I list?
Absolutely! Just remember that the skills and experience level you list will affect the types of positions you get emailed about. Therefore, it's in your best interest to list the most relevant skills for the job type you want to get.
Why is there no place to fill out race and gender?
Because they don't matter in this context. Your ability to perform a job is not related to arbitrary attributes like the color of your skin or the genitals you have. While we would obviously not discriminate based on these features, we believe the best way to ensure this does not happen is to simply not know the information.
